OUR RESEARCH INITIATIVES
Without understanding wildlife there would be no way to truly be effective in our conservation efforts, and this understanding needs to be taught so that the next generations have a new height to build their understanding upon.

For our part of this equation, we have put in the plans a research campus where academics and scientist can learn more about these animals and how we can take better care of them, both in our facilities and out in the wild.

Laboratory & Field Research
Our Research is focused on three scientific areas impacting North Alabama and our Nation:
-
Impacts of human development on wildlife habitats
-
Restoration of endangered species and threatened ecosystems
-
Sustainable Farming and Aquaculture

We are establishing an operational, biological field research station with a world-class wildlife research center located on a 200-acre site in Huntsville. The AWRC is a research extension of the Zoological Park also in development.
Beginning in the 2021 School year, we plan to support several Undergraduate field labs in biology and ecology. Additionally, planning is underway to host our first On-Site Undergraduate Class in 2022. Registration coming soon!
